Siemens bust dishwasherThe Siemens Dishwasher model number SE24E236EU
We ordered this machine from Amazon.de because we buy a lot from Amazon, an awful lot.
It was a complete disaster.
Firstly, We were promised a delivery period of up to ten days - this is just another way of saying not less than ten days. Then we called the customer service to tell them we had a holiday from the 9th day and they told us not to worry, the delivery company would be given our mobile number and they would call us. Off we went to Berlin for a week during which time we mysteriously received no phone call....

A dead machine
Number? What number?
When we returned, the delivery company were kind enough to have left us a card letting us know that they tried to
deliver the machine on the 11th day and the 13th day. When we called, they knew nothing of a phone call or a number to call. However they could delivery it the next day before 1pm.
Legged It
The next day ten minutes before one, two scruffy delivery men who seemed unusually silent delivered the machine and placed it with one side firmly against our hall wall. We had a quick look at the skimpy packing - it bit of plastic and some side protection of polystyrene. By this time one of the delivery men had oddly legged it downstairs - no hanging around for the tip?
Red Flag
That should have been a red flag. Meanwhile his mate was getting a signature as fast as he could and he could barely draw breath when I handed him the ten euro tip, before he legged it too.
The Awful Truth
It took us only moments to cut the wrapper off and move the machine away from the wall and discover that:

a) The door would not open properly because it was bashed out of alignment
b) The side hidden against the wall had a big dent in it.
b) The instruction manual and guarantee cards were missing.
c) The interior was wet. Now that's pretty weird

A Pile of Scrap
My wife ran to open the window and I ran down the stairs but clearly, shouting out the window had alerted the delivery men and they raced off in their van.
An immediate call to their company got zero response. They could not take back their pile of scrap blocking our hall without a note from Amazon. The operator promised to return the ten euro tip. A call to Amazon brought only the promise to collect their damaged machine in 11 days and refund in the same time. We were offered a replacement machine even though at that time their were none on the page - and a 20 euro voucher.
Buy, Bye-bye
Here's what I think I will do from now on...
Avoid stuff from Amazon that is not delivered by DHL, UPS or a company with a reasonable reputation.
